Biography

Composer, Orchestrator and Conductor

Driven by a passion for musical creation and teaching, Solène Grasset combines composition, orchestration and conducting to bring ambitious artistic projects to life. As a French composer, she writes for film, animation and video games, crafting music that serves both image and emotion. Shaped by rigorous training and extensive teaching experience, her career makes her a versatile figure on the contemporary music scene.

Creation and Orchestration

Solène has distinguished herself through her orchestration work for prestigious ensembles such as the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France (Richard Strauss’s “Die Ulme zu Hirsau”) and the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine (Ravel’s “Le Cygne”). Her creative and technical approach allows her to transform existing works or imagine new ones, with a particular sensitivity to orchestral colour.

Conducting and Teaching

Since 2019, Solène Grasset has devoted herself to conducting, an art she practises with both rigour and sensitivity. She is currently symphony orchestra conductor at Les Trifolies and string orchestra conductor at the Wasquehal Conservatoire, where she leads a variety of ensembles and also teaches chamber music. Her approach, both demanding and inspiring, helps musicians reveal their full potential.

Her conducting experience has grown over the years, notably at the Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche Conservatoire (2019–2023), where she also taught music theory and early-years music, passing on her passion to generations of students. Alongside this, she has held substitute positions teaching music theory at the Lomme School of Music (2023) and piano at the Maurepas Conservatoire (2017), confirming her versatility as a teacher.

Her background as a concert pianist and her masterclasses in Milan, Vienna and Flaine (with masters such as Jun Kanno and Cécile Edel-Latos) enrich her vision of conducting, bringing together technique, emotion and creativity.

Training and Expertise

A graduate of the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire (DEM in orchestration and choral conducting) and of the Schola Cantorum (composition and orchestration), Solène also studied piano at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Her academic background even includes a two-year degree in Computer Science, reflecting her command of digital music tools (Ableton, Cubase, Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore).
